Updates

I have some news! This past week I was awarded the Gilman Study Abroad Scholarship. This scholarship is sponsored by the U. S Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. By accepting this scholarship, I am required to complete a "follow-on service project" and this blog will work perfectly. Through this medium I can share my experiences with those that are interested in learning more about studying abroad. I will talk about classroom structure, excursions and outings in Fremantle, events that are nursing and health care related, people I meet and relationships that I build. I hope by sharing information I will inspire others to consider studying abroad. Don't worry, there will be loads of pictures too!

In other news, I have started the feared task of packing. Wow, it is difficult. How am I supposed to fit 4 1/2 months worth of clothes in one suitcase? The answer is beyond me.

Countdown: 8 DAYS

Lists

Hello there, person of the internet.

Thanks for visiting my blog and showing interest in the adventure I am about to embark on. As of right now, I am sitting on my couch watching the People's Choice Awards because I am a sucker for awards shows, no matter what they are for. There are 24 days until I travel 39 hours to the beautiful country of New Zealand with the even more beautiful Abbey, for a two week trip around the South Island. Then its off to Fremantle, Australia for 4 1/2 months of "studying" abroad. To prepare myself for this journey, I have made a list. A list of things I need to remember to pack, a list of things I need to buy, a list of errands I need to run, a list of people I need to see, important papers to remember (my Passport might be helpful), books to read, shows to watch (I don't think Netflix works down under)- needless to say there have been a lot of lists. Hey, we do what we can to keep ourselves sane, right?

I have been talking and thinking about this trip for months and months, and I can't believe it's almost time to leave. New Zealand/Australia, here I come. Be ready, this trip is going to be life changing.

Until next time, blogosphere.
